- Motivating Undergraduates in Science and Technology (MUST) is funded by NASA as a joint partnership with the Hispanic College Fund, the United Negro College Fund Special Programs, and the Society for Hispanic Professional Engineers. MUST awards scholarships and internships to undergraduates pursuing degrees in the STEM fields: science, technology, engineering and mathematics. MUST is particularly focused on engaging students from under-served and under-represented minority groups.
Requirements: Applicants must be U. S. citizens with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale and must be pursuing a degree in science, technology, engineering or mathematics. MUST accept rising freshmen, sophomores or juniors only.
- The American Indian Higher Education Consortium (AIHEC) provides students enrolled in a tribal college or university opportunities for ten-week projects in their field of study at NASA Centers and JPL. Award recipients are paired with appropriate mentors.
Requirements: Applicants must be U. S. citizens attending a designated tribal college or university, must have an interest in science and engineering studies, and must have a 3.0 GPA or better and at least freshman standing.
- Achieving competence in Computing, Engineering, and Space Science (ACCESS) is designed for undergraduate and graduate students with identified disabilities who are pursuing technical careers. Students will work with scientists and engineers on ten-week summer research projects compatible with their skills, abilities, and interests.
Requirements: Students must be U. S. students enrolled at accredited universities in STEM-related programs of study and must have GPAs of 3.0 or better.
- Alliance for Learning and Vision for Under-represented Americans (ALVA) is a summer "bridge" program for high-school graduates accepted for college, arises from a partnership between the Pacific Rim Alliance and participating industries, universities, and research laboratories like JPL. Students spend part of their time at their host sites working on specific research tasks and a portion attending mathematics workshops. The combination of work and classroom time is intended to give students a head start on their college education.
Requirements: Applicants must be U. S. citizens who have been accepted for enrollment as incoming freshmen in engineering programs at universities who are members of the Pacific Rim Alliance (i.e., universities in Hawaii and Alaska and the University of Washington).

- The JPL Summer High School Internship Program (SpaceSHIP) offers entry-level research internships to high school students with demonstrated interests and talent in science, engineering, and computer science. Awards are highly competitive.
Requirements: Applicants must be U. S. citizens attending high schools within a 50-mile radius of JPL and must have a 3.0 GPA or above. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age at the start of the internship.
